If you want a bit more information first, here are the answers to some common questions.

  • How will it benefit my business?

    There are two main areas that we would expect Butterware to benefit your business. Growth and efficiency.

    Growth - Once your customers register, you'll have access to their email addresses in order to market to them (although naturally, they can choose to opt-out). Keeping them up to date via newsletters is free for you and will help keep them involved with your business through news and special offers. By enabling our referral tools, you can get your customers to recommend you to others in return for rewards. Return on Investment for referrals is typically 50x to 100x.

    Efficiency - As you no longer have to take orders over the phone, your staff can get on with other tasks at the same time as errors are drastically reduced. If you do a delivery service, you can carry less speculative stock, becoming more efficient and saving money.

  • What do I need to do to get started?

    If you choose to print the orders, as recommended, you'll need a Windows based PC connected to the Internet. If you want to print to labels, you'll also need to buy a compatible label printer. We can recommend a good supplier to you

  • What if I want to change my menu and prices?

    All menu settings and prices can be managed online by you. It's easy and we're available to help if you need it.

  • Is there a tie-in period?

    No. We only ask that you give us 30 days notice but there is no mandated tie-in period.

  • How do I link this to my existing website?

    If you already have an existing site which you wish to continue to use, we usually advise a separate sub-domain for your online ordering website.

    So if your current site is http://www.mysandwiches.co.uk then your online ordering site could be something like http://order.mysandwiches.co.uk.

  • How long will it take to set up?

    It can be done in a few days but it normally takes 2-3 weeks to get everything ready. We're happy to work with your timeframe.

  • Do I need my own domain name?

    Technically no as we will start you off with a http://yourshop.butterware.co.... style sub-domain. It's strongly recommended that you do use your own domain though as it looks a lot better.

  • I do buffets, can I use your system?

    Absolutely! Our system has lots of features specifically to make buffets sales easier. Most importantly you can offer buffet customers the option of ordering via invoice once approved. The system can take care of raising and emailing invoices for you if you wish.

  • I do buffets and individual orders, how would this work?

    We recommend that you run each as separate but linked websites. That way you can offer different menus and settings for each.

  • Do you take the cash or online payments for me?

    Absolutely not. You remain in charge of all transactions. All online payments go direct to you, not via us.

  • How do you brand the website so it looks like mine?

    Our designers will work with your suggestions to create something that fits with your existing branding. If you already work with a design company, we can supply them with a template guide.

  • I’m worried I’ll get too many orders, how will I manage this?

    This can be a worry for businesses with small kitchens or premises. You can set capacity limits on the site, limiting the orders that you can take within a given period do you won't be overwhelmed.

  • What about the allergens rules, can I display this information?

    Yes, allergen information can be set along with your menu. Customers are then warned of any allergens before they place an order.

  • How does the meal deals feature work?

    You can set combinations from your menu to trigger a meal deal. You can choose to offer a fixed price (e.g always £5.00 total), fixed discount (e.g. always £1.00 off) or a percentage discount (e.g. always 15% off). It's possible to have multiple meal deals available and it's a great way of increasing the overall spend.

  • How does the recommend a friend feature work?

    You may set referral rewards to encourage your customers to sing your praises! The rewards are only paid on a successful referral placing an order. The rewards are credited to the referrers account for them to spend online with you. It's a very powerful feature and one that almost all of our clients make use of.

  • I have a suggestion for a new feature, will you do this?

    Almost all of our new features come from client suggestions. As long as the feature is generally in the interests of our clients and not too specialised, there's a good chance we'll do it. You can make suggestions via our support website and view suggestions that others have made as well as vote on them to show your interest.

  • What reports are generated from the system?

    We generated automatic weekly and monthly reports to help you track your progress. There are also reports for referrals, VAT and to show which items are most popular on your menu. If there's a report you'd like added, we'll do our best.

  • Can you help me launch my new site?

    We will aid you with any online marketing that you do for your launch. We've also got template press releases you can use to go to your local press with, along with tips about how to get published. There are also technical marketing tools to help you, like offering every new customer an amount off their first order; great to put on flyers to help get you started.
